Provincial Legislation Enforcement
Enforcement Services Community Peace Officer’s are authorized to enforce selected provincial legislation through their appointments under Alberta’s Peace Officer Program. These authorities allow officers to address a variety of public safety, property, environmental, and community-well-being concerns throughout the M.D. of Willow Creek, M.D. of Ranchland and the Town of Stavely.
Through a balanced approach of education, engagement, and enforcement, our officers work to promote voluntary compliance while helping residents understand their rights and responsibilities under provincial law. Enforcement Services responds to complaints, conducts proactive patrols, investigates violations, and takes appropriate enforcement action when required.
Our Community Peace Officers have enforcement authority under the following provincial legislation and associated regulations:
- Animal Protection Act
- Dangerous Dogs Act
- Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (Part 9, Division 2)
- Forest and Prairie Protection Act
- Fuel Tax Act
- Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act
- Petty Trespass Act
- Provincial Administrative Penalties Act
- Provincial Offences Procedures Act
- Tobacco, Smoking and Vaping Reduction Act
- Traffic Safety Act
- Trespass to Premises Act
These authorities enable Community Peace Officers to address a wide range of concerns, including traffic safety violations, trespassing, public consumption and liquor-related offences, dangerous or neglected animals, illegal dumping, environmental concerns, wildfire and fire prevention, tobacco and vaping restrictions, and other offences established under provincial legislation.
While Enforcement Services focuses on public safety and regulatory compliance, Officers also work closely with Emergency Services, the RCMP, provincial agencies, and other law enforcement partners to support a coordinated response to incidents and community concerns.
